4-methyl-5-(beta-hydroxyethyl) the thiazole can be obtained by a reduction reaction of 4-methyl-5-acetic acid ethyl ester with tetrahydrolithium aluminum. Alternatively, the desired product may be obtained by condensation cyclization of α-Chloroacetyl-propanol with thiocarbamamide and subsequent action of hydrogen peroxide.
